Friends Only

For various reasons, I have decided to make my LJ friends only. There may be occasional open posts, but for the most part, it will be locked. This affects a couple people, and I'm sorry :( However, you can get a free Live Journal so that you can read my entries. You don't get spammed, and it really is 100% free. And you don't even have to post a thing in your LJ, you can only use it for comments.

Thanks so much for playing guys! Things have picked up quite a bit in the past week, so I won't be running this again until perhaps next summer.

Summer Game: Week 7

Sorry I was gone for freaking ever guys -- I was out in Nebraska for a family reunion last week, and the week before I made myself sick trying to do entirely too much in too little time. But I'm back, and so is the game!

scores )

This week's topic: Mythical Creatures. The song title must have a kind of mythical creature (not a specific name... as in if there were a song about a Hippogriff named Buckbeack, the title would need to contain 'hippogriff'.). Remember -- must be more than one word! Remember to follow the rules!

This week's topic: Alcoholic Beverage. The song title must have a kind of alcohol (not a drink name... as in, a song called "Irish Carbomb" wouldn't work unless it were called "Whiskey Carbomb" or something.). Remember -- must be more than one word! Remember to follow the rules!

A couple more knock-outs this round, but still... good song titles, you guys!

Why is this not in the news?

In a conversation with Erin just now, I figured out who Sarah Palin is! Remember Vicki from Small Wonder?

From wikipedia: "Vicki's artificial intelligence is not perfect. She is incapable of emotion, speaks in a monotone voice, and interprets most commands literally. She does manage to blend in to the real world to a point. Vicki attends school, and no one but her family members and a few trusted friends know her secret."

Need more proof: Check out the opening credits of Small Wonder... wait until you are introduced to Vicki...

Books Are Good For You
I want to know how to make one of these:

They are super awesome.  If anyone knows where I can get my hands on a pattern like this, or has any idea how to make such a pattern, I would love them forever and ever. Because as awesome as these, I'm not paying $135 for one.

Quoi?

  • Nov. 20th, 2007 at 3:29 PM
Eddie Izzard - Ein Minuten
On my walk home, I saw a woman jogging. This was not weird, except that she was holding a bottle of syrup.

It reminded me of Cookie Dough Sport.

Game Final

  • Jun. 27th, 2007 at 1:40 PM
Archimedes - Sword In The Stone
Sorry this has taken me so long guys... but here's the last round of the game. I've decided to end it because my life got super busy (in an awesome way) and because a person or two were perhaps taking it too seriously and were on my nerves. I hope those of you who played had fun! Maybe I'll give it another go when things calm down... but in the meanwhile, if someone else wants to have a go at running one, please, be my guest!

This one was tough -- I had picked "Surf Wax America" by Weezer -- but no one else picked that. But there were several knock outs and a couple disqualifications.

I'll go a little easier this week: songs with types of weather in the title. And, as per usual, I'll have a song picked too. Rules are here, if you need a refresher. Happy guessing!

I had picked "Red Right Ankle" by The Decemberists. Nobody else picked that, so no extra points were awarded.

This week's topic: songs with countries in the title. Note: It must be the actual name of the country... for example, "Turning Japanese" by the Vapours does not count because it says "Japanese" and not "Japan". However, acronyms, countries that no longer exist, and common shortenings (e.g. America or U.S.) are fine.  And remember the rule that it has to be in English...  "Sverige" by Basshunter wouldn't count, although it does mean "Sweden". And like last time, I've posted a guess. If you get the same as me, you get two points!

Office - B words
My choice was "One Night In Bangkok" by Murray Head, off of the Chess soundtrack. It was kind of a mean choice... but Chris and gimp got it! So they get two points!

Edit 2: scores fixed!

This week's topic: songs with body parts in the title. And like last time, I've posted a guess. If you get the same as me, you get two points!
